Lindly Haunani

As a polymer artist, my work would not be what it is today if it weren't for the inspiration and influence of the talented pioneers in the community.  With that in mind, I made a decision four years ago to use CFCF as a forum to recognize some of those pioneers who have given so much and influenced so many.  The Creative Pioneer and Innovator Award was conceived as a means to offer a public token of gratitude, recognition and thanks.  Separately, the body of work for each pioneer is unique and awe-inspiring.  Together, their work has opened thousands of minds to polymer and their teachings have inspired countless others to try new techniques, develop their own style, and to explore.

We invite you to join us on Tuesday evening, February 19, 2013, as we honor one of those pioneers, Lindly Haunani, with the Creative Pioneer and Innovator Award at the Sixth Annual Cabin Fever Clay Fest in Laurel, MD. Lindly is being honored for her contributions in color theory and development and for her foresight as a founding member of the National and Potomac Polymer Clay Guilds.  It was no surprise that when asked, Lindly named Kathleen Dustin, Pier Voulkos and Tory Hughes as her main influences and first instructors.  She has traveled the world, teaching workshops on color and design, helping many polymer artists to explore and overcome their fear of color and to develop confidence in their work.  Her book, Polymer Clay Color Inspirations, co-authored with Maggie Maggio, has quickly become an essential addition to the library of polymer enthusiasts.  Past recipients include: Nan Roche, Judith Skinner, and Marie Segal.  If you wish to honor her, cost for the evening is $35 for non-conference attendees.  Congratulatory notes can be emailed to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
