Here is a guild spotlight for the Lakewood, Colorado guild, submitted by Patty Schneider:

I’m a member of the Mile High Polymer Clay Guild here in Lakewood, Colorado. It was founded in the mid 90s by Lynne Denio who served as its 1st president. Our current president is Clare Pramuk and we are 85 members strong and growing.

We meet on the 4th Saturday of each month, (except in December), at Lochwood Christian Fellowship church located at 1354 S. Union Blvd. General meetings start at 10:30 am and run until 3 pm. There’s a demo each month, and the rest of the day is devoted to playing with clay, except in January when we host our popular Holiday Recovery Party which includes a fun gift exchange, a silent auction, pot luck, as well as displays of our art work for others to enjoy and purchase.

We are a new group based in East Anglia in the United Kingdom and aiming to provide a place for those interested in using Polymer Clay as an art medium to meet and exchange ideas and techniques.  The group began as a result of inspiration by Sue Heaser from whom many of us first learned Polymer Clay techniques.  We held our first event in June 2012 and our second took place in August 2012.

magnolia-blossom-1Tallahassee is filled with sweet scent when the magnolias bloom. The Tallahassee Polymer Clay Art Guild was founded in 2006 through the matchmaking efforts of Karen Woods in Tampa, FL. Karen had seen a posting I had made on a polymer clay Yahoo Group. Karen contacted her friend and fellow Tallahasseean Ellen Rumsey Bellenot and 'set us up' to meet. A few weeks after that initial email exchange, Ellen and I held an organizational meeting and started advertising the newly formed Guild.

We've worked hard to build our Guild Library, which is open to all current members. The library includes books, DVDs, and magazines of interest to our members. As a benefit of membership, we organize bulk buying events so we can receive price discounts on clay supplies.

lake-yale-groupThe Orlando Area Polymer Clay Guild, formed in the fall of 2003, has continued to grow and thrive under the tutelage of many of the original members.  We meet on the last Saturday of the month at the First Methodist Church in Winter Garden, Florida, and welcome anyone who would like to come and “clay” with us whether they are beginners or experienced enthusiasts.  Each month a member of the guild or an invited guest gives a tutorial on a chosen clay technique.  We are proud of our warm, sharing group of ladies, many travelling long distances to be there each month.
