kassel_smallSomewhere Over the Rainbow Music Box by Doreen Kassell (2011 Third Place Tie - Judges, First Place - Members Choice)Progress and Possibilities 2012, this year's edition of our time-honored online exhibition, is in its final planning stages.

The Call for Entry will be posted October 15 on the IPCA website, and the deadline for submissions will be Nov. 15. Winners of both the juried exhibition and the Members' Choice competition will be announced Jan. 6.

Once again, categories will be defined by the type of object and the artist's level of expertise.  The level of expertise has been expanded to four – Beginner, Intermediate, Proficient, and Professional.

You must be a current member of IPCA to enter. The piece(s) you submit must have been created in the year 2012 and must not have been entered in previous competitions of any sort. The work must be made up of at least 75% visible polymer clay and the concept, design and execution of the artwork must be solely yours.

We are looking for the original and the innovative, however you define those qualities! The mission of Progress & Possibilities is to show not only how far our medium has come but to give some clues as to where it will go from here.

Now is the time to tweak your designs, refine your techniques, and begin working on those amazing art works that will make this the best Progress & Possibilities ever!

How to Rejuvenate Your Muse PDF Print E-mail
IPCA Retreat

elseYou know those moments in life when it feels like your life's just changed? That's how it felt the day I received the email telling me I'd won the scholarship to attend last year's IPCA retreat in Chicago!  And it only got better from there!

We'd had one heckuva couple of years to put it mildly.  The details aren't important here, but I needed a "nudge" desperately to get back to what I loved - polymer clay. What the scholarship gave me wasn't just a nudge, but a hundred yard dash. I was totally rejuvenated.

IPCA Retreat
Wednesday, 10 August 2011 17:35

retreat_logo_smallDuring the week of July 10, 2011 almost 100 polymer artists came together for the IPCA Biennial Retreat Hot Clay, Cool Friends. The Retreat revolved around the themes of Education and Community

Community

On Wednesday afternoon, July 13, Retreat attendees started checking in for the Retreat and received a tote bag filled with close to $100 worth of goodies including clay, magazines, tools, clay friendly materials, catalogs, molds and even a cosmetics travel bag compliments of Lisa Pavelka. As soon as the last pre-Retreat class ended, attendees began setting up their 'homes' in the workroom. Some attendees brought minimal tools and supplies, while others set up elaborate work areas including display space for items to be sold.
